Photos used to document presence of menthol tobacco products on store shelves

Photos of cigarettes displayed on the shelves of 160 New York City tobacco retailers were used by New York University researchers to document the potential impact of a menthol cigarette ban. Menthol cigarettes displays averaged about 25% of the displayed cigarettes overall, but that percentage was significantly greater in areas with higher smoking rates, with variances depending on poverty levels and ages within each ZIP code.
