Local flavor policies affect menthol availability in San Francisco

A study examined the effects of flavored tobacco sales restrictions San Francisco and other Bay Area communities, as well as the implementation of a $2 increase in tobacco excise tax. They found that average cigarette prices increased significantly more in cities with flavor policies, leading the authors to conclude that the local policies may have had spillover effects that indirectly increased pack prices.
